Trip over your tongue

1. To stumble or stammer when trying to say something.
2. To gawk at someone to the point of being noticed by others. Here the term refers to hanging your tongue out so far as to trip over it.

You're lucky she didn't trip over your tongue
dragging halfway across the ground.
