The Squat Rack Test
The Squat Rack Test is a relationship standard that reveals what kind of partner someone is when life gets heavy.
Like a good spotter at a squat rack, a partner who passes the Squat Rack Test doesn’t take the weight away from you, doesn’t stand back and watch you struggle. They pay attention, stay close, encourage you when you have more in you, and step in when the weight becomes too heavy to carry alone.
It’s about being secure enough to admire someone’s strength without using that strength as an excuse to leave them carrying everything.
You don’t rescue them.
You don’t control them.
You don’t make them smaller so you can feel bigger.
You notice. You move closer. You help when it gets heavy.
And when you’re the one under the weight, you trust them to do the same.

I knew he was different when life got heavy and, instead of backing away or taking over, he stepped closer. He passed the Squat Rack Test.
