The Index Syndicate is a large scale group found in the Project Moon world. It's one of the five major "Finger" Syndicates. The Index is known to follow mysterious "Prescripts" that almost no one knows where they come from or how they are made. These Prescripts carry tasks that must be done by the Index members no matter what. The Prescripts are usually made in simple small sheets of paper, but it can be also on some things like a devices as seen from Rien and Sora in Limbus Company.

abandonware

n. software that is no longer sold or supported by the original publisher / developer, often found as free downloads on the internet because it cannot be obtained elsewhere. Not legal, but often seen as morally acceptable because the company that made it is no longer selling the title, nor releasing it as freeware, therefore abandonware is "keeping the game alive", so to speak.
Doom II is not abandonware because id still sells it, while The Incredible Machine is not sold, therefore is abandonware.
