Spectral Law of Reality

The principle that reality itself exists on a spectrum—not a single, fixed, objective reality but an infinite continuum of realities, from the brute physical (rocks, trees) through the socially constructed (money, borders) to the purely subjective (pain, love) to the transcendent (God, meaning). The spectral law of reality acknowledges that what's real in one dimension may be illusory in another, that reality is layered and multiple, and that the question "is it real?" is always incomplete—real in what sense? On what spectrum? By whose standards? This law is the foundation of humility, because it recognizes that your reality is just one slice of an infinite spectral cake.

Example: "He said her feelings weren't 'real' because they weren't based on facts. She invoked the spectral law of reality: 'Feelings are real on the subjective-experience spectrum. They're not real on the objective-fact spectrum. Different spectra, different realities. Your feelings about my feelings are also real—on the spectrum of your own experience.' He had no response, because his frustration was real on every spectrum."

Law of Spectral Reality

The principle that reality exists on a spectrum between absolute and relative, with infinite gradations and multiple dimensions. Under this law, reality isn't simply one thing or many things—it's a multidimensional continuum where different aspects are more or less observer-dependent, more or less constructed, more or less universal. The law of spectral reality recognizes that the question "is it real?" is always incomplete—real in what sense? On what spectrum? To what degree? This law is the foundation of ontological humility, the recognition that reality is richer than any single account can capture, and that different accounts can be valid for different purposes.

Law of Spectral Reality Example: "She mapped her experience using spectral reality, placing different phenomena on spectra of observer-dependence, social construction, and materiality. Her toothache was high on materiality, low on construction. Her job title was the reverse. Her love for her partner was somewhere in between—real but constructed, material and immaterial. The spectral coordinates captured what simple realism missed: the texture of actually living."
