Spailpín is an adjective used heavily in rural Ireland to describe somebody who exhibits a gravity towards the working world whilst also upholding a strict social life. See also "Girlboss"

Spailpín Fánach

Aoife Lynch also known as the 'spailpín fánach' of Ireland. The English translation of this is 'ground slave'. This term was used for workers of large Irish farms in the late eighteen hundreds and into the nineteen hundreds.
