Soulz phenomenon

When a game, project, or update is repeatedly promised to release soon but constantly delayed.
Though the developers and community continue to believe with absolute faith that “it’s coming back.”

Originates from the Roblox game Soulz, which has experienced countless “soon” announcements, date pushbacks, and revival promises since 2024. Despite it all, the fans still hold on.

Symptoms:

Announcements such as: “release in ~1 month” or “this Saturday for sure 🙏”

Edits quietly changing dates: “soon” becomes “later this week”

Devs reminding everyone: “it’s not discontinued” every few months

Hopium-fueled optimism keeping the fanbase alive

Sneak peeks dropped just often enough to reignite belief

Synonyms:
Development hell, Hopium cycle, Soon Syndrome

Antonym:
Released, open beta, full release
“They said the update’s coming next week again? Nah dude, that whole project is undergoing the Soulz phenomenon."

“I’ve been waiting for this game’s return for two years... I think I’m suffering from the Soulz phenomenon.”

“Don’t worry guys, it’s not cancelled... it’s Soulzed.”

Black Soul Phenomenon

Something that occurs in wives of army combat soldiers who serve multiple long deployments back and forth to war zones. It describes the gradual numbing, detaching and weariness that happens to our souls from a dozen years of enduring the longest ass war in our nation's history.
"Girl, he just got orders to go back to Afghanistan again. I need to dig out my black soul phenomenon and get through another one."
