Nissan's SR20 engine with the VVL cylinder head. while it wasn't offered stock in any U.S. cars. it is often imported from failed Japanese inspections that said the engine was no good, when over in the U.S. it is considered brand new.
the SR20VE produced 186HP @ 7000RPM and 144 ft-lbf at 6000rpm
the SR16VE-N1 cams are often considered an upgrade due to the engine being able to rev to 8600rpms with the N1 cams.

A Nissan Engine used in japan in the 180SX, Silvia (S13,S14 and S15 models) Also in the Pulsar GTi-R, aveneir and Blue Bird. it stands for..
SR (series model) 2.0 (liter) (D)ual over head cam, (E)lectronic fuel injected, (T)urbo.
This engine is sometimes referd to as a Redtop or Blacktop due to its valve cover color in diffrent years. You can tell a newer S14 or S15 model Sr20det by its slant in the valve cover and black color.
This 4 cylinder engine is capable of 400 horsepower with stock internals.

possibly one of the tightest motors that is affordable for nissans in America. Very popular swap put into 240sx's. will smoke ANY honda (especially that boosted vtec shit), and even has the potential to beat other popular cars such as Rsx, WRX, and Evo. Some mistakenly claim that KA-T's are faster and more reliable. RB motors are also very cool motors with potential like SR's but they are rarer and harder to swap. If you are serious about street racing without having a super expensive car and leavin some wannabe ricers aka VTECH or Honda dickriders, this is the motor for you.

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
