Code phrase for sex, used in front of naïve or unknowing people, especially parents/husbands/children. Used by literature students - other students may use their own terms i.e. French (read some Moliere), psychology (read some Freud), physics (read some Einstein).
Hey mum - don't disturb us for a bit - Helen and I are going to read some Chaucer. Have supper ready in an hour.
