Protaginitis 

i. When protagonists (main characters) in media use logic that only works because they are protagonists, and thus have plot armor and are protected from dying.

ii. When protagonists or deuteragonists (side characters) in media die as a result of logic that normally wouldn't be applied in real life by normal people, but instead because they need to advance the plot.

"He clearly heard the monster breathing behind that door, why would he open it?"

a condition that makes the sufferer unable to resist games, books, and movies that feature an author as the main character.

He had writer protagonitis, and was therefore unable to resist buying Alan Wake for xbox360, Steven King's Misery, or Finding Forrester.

Protagonitis 

A condition where your favorite character is always the main character, no matter how annoying and unattractive.

If Bella Swan is your favorite character in Twilight, you're obviously suffering from a major case of protagonitis.

Protagonitis 

An unfortunate condition where a person in real life has characteristics not unlike the ones a protagonist in a wish-fulfillment story would have. The symptoms of someone with Protagonitis are as follows: has a dark traumatic past, has a secret power that nobody knows about, is given some special power or talent, has a ridiculous amount of luck, and is extremely attractive to many members of the opposite sex for no apparent reason.

"If anyone you know has Protagonitis, please seek help in the form of a doctor or an editor."
