Polytheist Thoreauvianism

A specific variant that emphasises polytheism—worshipping many gods—as the religious framework for Thoreauvian practices. It rejects monotheistic assumptions of a single divine plan, instead seeing the world as a field of multiple, sometimes conflicting powers. Polytheist Thoreauvianism cultivates relationships with various deities associated with wild places, crafts, and resistance. It is practiced by some contemporary polytheist activists who see their gods as allies in struggles against ecological destruction and state overreach.
Example: “She honoured Hermes as the god of borders before crossing a fence, and Athena before presenting legal arguments—polytheist Thoreauvianism, finding divine support for civil disobedience.”
