Parasilmolous

Parasilmolous describes organic matter affected by an extremely rare parasitic transformation in which the invading organism becomes structurally continuous with its host. Rather than visibly consuming the material, it gradually replaces portions of it while preserving its original appearance, producing crystalline, fibrous, or mold-like formations. Internet folklore surrounding alleged cases claims the organism is nearly transparent and becomes easier to observe when contaminated material is submerged in dyed water. The associated condition is sometimes called parasilmolosis, with stories describing unusual visual disturbances, persistent thirst, peripheral “shadow” figures, and increasingly vivid sleep phenomena.

We thought the white crystals on the muffin were just sugar bloom until someone said the inside looked parasilmolous.
