Palin-American

An individual who distrusts intellectual discourse, logical reasoning in the classical definition, or academically peer-reviewed scientific studies and theories, in favor of hyperbolic one-liners and empirical evidence. Often dismissive of anybody with an accredited higher education degree, and extremely hostile to those who exhibit PhD credentials. Generally applies to people of a politically conservative (e.g. US Tea Party, US Republican Party), due to the popularization of former Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin. Technically applicable to those of a more progressive bent, but a different slur is usually more appropriate. (see stupid-ass liberal)
John is a Palin-American through and through. I can understand if he's skeptical of global warming and evolution, but he doesn't seem to understand that his protest signs with misspelled racial slurs only makes him look like a tool.

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
