Synonym for painful, yet with more emphasise and extremity. Of more pain than just “painful” it is painsome.

Painsomnia

PainsomniaNot being able to sleep after a major surgery, even after taking all the prescribed medication that should alleviate the pain enough for you to sleep.

I'm suffering from Painsomnia after my back surgery.
I'm surprised that my painsomnia hasn't caused me to lose my mind.
The worst torture I can imagine right now is suffering from multiple nights of painsomnia
