Off the Rosenbluth
The moment a golfer who has contributed absolutely nothing of value to his team for the majority of a round finally produces a meaningful shot, hole, birdie/net-birdie, par, or point late in the match.
Most commonly used in a Four-Ball, Nassau, Wheel, or team format, where one player has spent the day enjoying the benefits of his partners’ golf while providing little more than conversation, moral support, and an additional cart passenger.
Upon finally contributing to the team score, the player is officially said to be “off the Rosenbluth.”
Degrees of Rosenbluth
On the Rosenbluth — Currently contributing nothing.
Deep on the Rosenbluth — The round is getting late and you still haven’t helped.
Off the Rosenbluth — You finally contributed when it mattered.
Rosenbluth Watch — When the group realizes around the 12th or 13th hole that someone has yet to contribute.
Full Rosenbluth — Completing all 18 holes without recording a single meaningful contribution to the team.
