Neo-Tribalism

The re-emergence of tribalism in the post-industrial age. Whereas paleo-tribalism was based on incidental identity, neo-tribalism is voluntarist and based on intentional identities. The internet is an example of a modern technology that has allowed people to drop out of engagement with mass society and embrace neo-tribalism with like minded individuals.
