Two letters used in various alphabetic shorthand systems and slang abbreviations. For example:
1. In short form messaging, "nn" is a stand in for "night night".

NN stands for the latin "Nomen nescio", that means "i do not know the name". In Italy it was used on birth certificates when the father or the mother was unknown. "Son of NN" became a very offensive phrase and it was abolished on official certificates, but some people still use it as an insult.
