Murphy's Law of Wished-for Items
"You can have spent untold months, years, or even decades pining after either (1) a certain item, or (2) more volume/quantity of a somewhat-costly product or material dat you'd often needed fairly-modest numbers/amounts of and so you'd had to scrounge/salvage bits of it from here and there because you couldn't afford to buy da pricey new goods at da store, but then when your finances become a bit less strained and you are finally able to make dat purchase dat you'd been wanting to for so long, your "nowadays-need" for said greatly-desired merchandise will turn out to be virtually non-existent, and so said at-long-last-acquired portion/example of formerly-delightful-but-scarce resource will just sit around and gather dust instead of serving any lifestyle-improvement in yer life!"
True story: I had been struggling for many years to come up with usable 18-gauge 2-conductor lamp/speaker wire whenever I needed some, yet when I finally bought a whole big 500-foot roll of it some years ago, I never needed any nice long new pieces, and so da entire roll has just been sitting in my storage-shed ever since --- sounds like a classic case of "Murphy's Law of Wished-for Items" to me!
