ketolard

Share definition Flag
Any fervent supporter of the "ketogenic diet" who, upon observation can be seen to rarely make progress in regard to either their overall fitness, if at all. This is in stark contrast to their dedicated following of the diet for months or even years. These individuals can be seen in the wider fitness industry and on social media platforms pushing their no-carb, high-fat, and high-protein diets. They will often cite early hominids, claiming that early humans and their diets of almost solely animal meat are what our current, 21st century diets should be identical to. They will often purposefully ignore the nutritional evidence from modern athletes who are themselves living proof that modern humans who make an effort to include healthy sources of carbohydrates in conjunction with a balanced macronutrient split, well-tailored caloric intake, and exercise regimen are able to perform well in all areas of life. This includes not only sports, but also labor-intensive, and mental-intensive occupations as well as within academia. Ketolards will often accuse anybody who denies or expresses concern about their beliefs as being a vegan, who they tend to treat as their mortal enemies, while remaining willfully ignorant to the fact that vegans are simply the other side of the same extreme. Both groups often promote harmful dieting practices, which are not rooted in medical or nutritional fact. The documented anecdotal and scientific evidence suggests that this is indeed the case.
Person 1: Hey man, how are you today?

Person 2: I'm good, how are you?

Person 1: Doing good, it's my day off so I just got back from visiting my sister and niece today. My sister says that she's been exercising and trying this new diet lately. She says that she has lost weight, but I am still kind of concerned to be honest.

Person 2: Oh yeah? Why the concern? She's been overweight for years from what you've told me. You even said that she got a divorce because of it. Is she starving herself or something like that?

Person 1: No no, nothing like that thankfully, but she says that she is doing the "ketogenic diet," and pretty much the only food she has in her house now are animal products like butter and meat. My niece seemed pretty upset about it, since she plays basketball at school. You know how many calories athletes can burn, and they need carbs like potatoes and rice. You played sports too, so am I right about that?

Person 2: Yeah man, I was a wrestler for years back then. You're right. It sounds like your sister is turning into a ketolard. If she doesn't stop that diet she might be in bigger trouble than simply being overweight or obese still. You should look up some of the things that can happen to you if you only eat fat and protein for months on end.
