A halfpave is a social construct that tends to signify dominance, an example of a halfpave would be someone who commits atrocious crimes and gets away with it, another name would be, as professionals say, a "Sigma."

It refers to that small landing at the top of a flight of stairs where you have to turn and take another flight of stairs whether going up or down.
