Goron's Diamond 

When a game has an indeterminate set of ranges for prizes, and the prize the player receives for a good score is underwhelming, thus leading the player to obsessively believe there is a much better prize if they can find a way to earn a higher score.

"In Tears of the Kingdom, I rang the giant bell at 164 but the Goron only gave me a Ruby. Surely, there must be a way to get a Diamond. I'll pay him again and start over..."

"You've been in the same spot for five hours. You're all out of rupees. You're obsessed. This is a Goron's Diamond situation. Go to bed."
