Goff’d
When the New Orleans Saints appear to make a huge, potentially game-changing play, only for an officiating decision involving Jared Goff to rip it away and leave Saints fans questioning the meaning of football itself.
The term originates from the Saints’ infamous 2019 NFC Championship loss to Goff’s Rams, when an obvious pass interference penalty went uncalled late in regulation. Years later, the Saints were Goff’d again in Week 1 of 2026 when a Jared Goff strip-sack returned for a Saints touchdown was overturned because Goff had already begun his “throwing motion.”
Getting Goff’d does not necessarily mean the ruling was technically incorrect. It simply means Jared Goff was involved, the Saints got screwed out of something awesome, and somehow New Orleans is angry at the rulebook again.

“Chase Young just strip-sacked Goff and we returned it for a touchdown!”
“Never mind. Apparently he had the intention to throw.”
“Unbelievable. We got Goff’d again.”
