Warm Turkey

The act of quitting an addictive substance gradually instead of going cold turkey, usually by using a less intense substitute or quitting aid to soften the withdrawal before eventually stopping altogether.

Common examples include quitting cigarettes or vaping by temporarily using nicotine pouches, gum, or patches and gradually reducing the amount until you’re nicotine-free.

Unlike cold turkey, the turkey is still leaving — it’s just taking its sweet-ass time.

“I’m not quitting vaping cold turkey. I’m going Warm Turkey with patches for a few weeks and slowly cutting down.”

The overwhelming feeling of happiness a watchstander experiences when their relief finally walks through the door, signaling that a long watch is officially coming to an end. Usually strongest after a 12-hour watch, a chaotic shift, or when your relief shows up early.
