Crust Quest

Early 2000s to mid 2010s, when everything was overly saturated with filters to look "cool", but it just made it potato quality and hard to see. Commonly found in media like movies and video games.

Overused colors included: brown, yellow, blue, and green.

If you have ever watched a Michael Bay movie, you have experienced Crust Quest.

Common music is grungy and some of it is high quality, while other music of the Crust Quest era is horrendously bad. Rock and metal tunes accompanied by over-the-top angst and a color filter is peak Crust Quest; and is something to look back upon both fondly and with rage, given how hard it was playing or watching anything.

Some proto Crust Quest was found in the late 90s. Even small traces could be in the 80s, but peak Crust Quest involved moody aesthetics and visual tones that were heavily overused — although at times beloved.

Some of it was just bad. Not even making it into the so bad it's good category. It is literally unwatchable. Or unplayable.

You can appreciate Crust Quest for what it was even if it is a mixture of nostalgia and embarrassment. You can laugh at it at the same time as reliving precious memories of the time period.

Other times you just want to groan.
Did you play the Nier Gestalt level in Nier Replicant?

Crust Quest continues.

How can we make this even more Crust Quest?

Slap a Sepia filter over it and call it a day!

To take something small, that doesn't quite qualify as a theft. Probably from the Danish "skæv" or the Dutch "scheef", both of which are pronounced similarly, meaning "askew, or not quite right'. To change an item's ownership without permission, but only something small and of little worth.
"I skeefed an apple off the neighbor's tree." "I skeefed some chips outta your bag when you looked away." "Don't skeef my chair when I go to the bathroom."

Hair spider
