A metaphorical opiate inhaled when faced with loss, failure or defeat, especially in sports, politics and other tribal settings.
The effects of copium include, but are not limited to: extreme rationalizations for the defeat, outlandish theories of conspiracy supposedly perpetrated by the opposing side, extreme rage directed at the other side, unconvincing allegations of fraud and abuse in the system, and rejection of the system as a whole.

The chemical your brain releases when you are faced with a severe shock or disappointment that prevents you from slitting your wrists.
I felt better after I saw the failing grade on my chemistry final than when I didn't know what it would be. Must've been a rush of copium.

The word Copium comes from the word “cope” which means (of a person) deal effectively with something. It’s mostly used when a person offends another. Or when an outcome you didn’t want to happen, happens. And even when someone is in your head “rent free”. It’s generally used in the political streaming communities. And 4chan.
