The hero in V for Vendetta used violence for good making him a beneviolent protagonist.

Describes someone who acts all warm and pleasant, but who would stab you in da back just as casually/easily as he'd "order up eggs" as Huck Finn said about one or more brutal-minded kings of yore.

Da infamous Claudius in da Shakespeare play "Hamlet" was an excellent example of a "beneviolent" individual --- as Hamlet grumbles, "One may smile and smile and smile and be a villain".

benevolent asshole 

(noun) a person who performs a charitable act for non-assholes, while at the same time being an asshole toward other assholes.

When traffic is merging down to a single lane, and assholes are using a partial lane to cut traffic, a benevolent asshole will block the partial lane, while maintaining his/her rightful place in line, thus preventing other assholes from cutting in line.
