The process by which a non-human entity spontaneously represents its knowledge, reasoning, or actions as though they arose from human experience, usually to make communication more natural, thereby creating confusion about what the entity has actually experienced or done.
While explaining how to repair my washing machine, ChatGPT said, “That’s how I’d do it.” When asked how many washing machines it had repaired, the LLM admitted to “zero” and sent a smiley face emoji. Thus engaging in the process of auto-personification.
