Aubremania

The unofficial-official name given to the widespread, cognito-hazard, infohazard, psychological pathogen endemic to a Gen-Z and late millennial corner of the internet that has been infecting already struggling and vulnerable young teens since June 2024. It is a subdivision of the larger youth mental health crisis in America and internationally, affecting the aforementioned generations. A much more dangerous, hybrid form of brainrot and parasocial interaction, Aubremania can be contacted by viewing and commenting under various TikTok and YouTube edits, Instagram posts, and Pinterest pins about people who died (particularly non-celebrity young adults, teens, and tweens), whose stories go viral. Coined in late 2024, the term comes from its earliest and most prominent form, a young girl from south Mississippi who took her own life in September 2023 due to bullying. Involves saying things about people they have never met such as "I miss you" or calling them personal nicknames.
Female 1: Girl, Aubremania is starting to worry me. Is my kid next?
Female 2: Wrdd, it needs to stop, they're treating his/her death like a trend. It's sick.
(Female 3 walks in) Female 3: I miss (insert kid's name) so much...
Female 1 and 2: You have Aubremania.
