When a company uses fake accounts to make it seem like regular people support their corporate political positions but the people posting are too stupid not to get caught.

Did you see all the fools astroderping for Amazon recently? Similar to astroturfing except the people posting are too dumb to get away with it.

The use – by men – of fake social media accounts that pose as feminist women, to object to the rights of trans women to be recognized as women. See also: Astroturfing, TERF.

Most of the people defending this anti-trans bigot are puppet accounts with stock photos of women for avatars. Literal fake women supporting transphobia: typical astroTERFing!

A fake-grassroots anti-trans dogpile created by a mix of low-effort troll accounts, engagement farm bots, and Facebook's conflict-addicted algorithm.

Looks like a mass movement. Is actually twelve dudes in a telegram chat and 38 semi-automated emoji scripts.

Real life is supportive. Facebook is just astroTERFing.
