AsianFishing is when a white person makes their eyes look slanted to copy Asian (mostly eastern) peoples' faces or make themself look Asian in general. It's offensive because it dumbs down Asian people to a single facial feature and reduces their ethnic features to an aesthetic after being made fun of for years.

A person who dress up or undergoing cosmetic surgery to look like an Asian person, they usally want to be look like Korean and Japanese. This is largely due to their obsession to one of their favorite Kpop/Jpop band/music idols.

Asian Fishing 

When someone who is not Asian, tries to look like someone of Asian descent.
This usually occurs when someone takes the sexualized and fetishized aspects of Asian people and uses it as an "aesthetic" or for their own advantage. Asian fishing perpetuates stereotypes and completely disregards the oppression Asians have faced.

1st person: Hey, are you Asian?
2nd person: No, it's just makeup. But I'm obsessed with Asian culture.
2nd Person: Oh. I thought you were Asian. (their brain: what ...wtf... why they were just Asian fishing)

An act of trying to look like you are of Asian descent. Most usually East Asian.

This is very offensive towards Asian people because all these years of them (Asians) have been made fun of for the shape of their eyes or the way they look that it has now become a “trend” mostly started by white people because white people usually want to look like any other race but their wh*te selves.

Asian Fishing 

The act of making yourself appear asian, either using makeup or other face-changing mediums. Often mistaken for normal winged eyeliner or dolly makeup, both of which leave the average non-asian looking the same.

Asian fishing is a real issue and a form of racism, but is rarely taken seriously due to the misinformation and performative activism surrounding it.
