Artardatsia
A mental state characterized by an apparent inability to "connect the dots" or formulate a logical forecast or estimate from available information. Also, a class of otherwise intelligent and highly-educated people engaged in the business of predicting or estimating a future event or trend but apparently lacking the ability to process available information into a coherent, logical view of the future.
The artardatsia maintain their unreasonable expectations and forecasts until long after the future course of events becomes apparent to everyone else.
