kokeshi doll

A Kokeshi doll, or kokeshi, is a doll native to Japan, and is usually hand-made out of wood. It consists of one, somewhat phallic shape, and a large head. There are no limbs like a typical American doll, but rather, they are painted on the doll by an artisan. They come in a different sizes and variations, and are used for decorations as well as child's play.
