To feign surprise or question something where it is glaringly obvious that what is being said cannot be construed in any other way. The person 'pulling a Dean" does so when a minuscule error in wording gives him/her the justification for questioning what is obvious to 99.99% of the population.
Oh my hat! I have to tell you about the time Craig was pulling a Dean. The other day I told him that my car was running low on diesel and that we needed to pull into a petrol station. And he said to me 'oh but I thought you needed diesel?"

A Dean is the best friend you could ever ask for. He's caring and level headed and logical minded sometimes to a fault, but he always means well. He has the funniest most contagious laugh you've ever heard. He's always there when you need him and he knows exactly what to say. Nothing's better than listening to a Dean go on about their interests. He will make you so comfortable with him that if you aren't careful, you might fall for him. If you're really reckless, you might take him for granted. You won't realize how much of a part of your life a Dean is until he's gone.

Somebody telling the dean on you. Deaned can also be used for somebody telling the principal about you.
