A Prep is a person from the North Eastern area of the US and comes from old money. They receive the title because they attend preparatory schools, which contain a more rigorous academic curriculum than public schools and focus on giving students much freedom, while maintaining a strong sense of discipline in order to prepare them for college life. Their fashion sense is expensive, yet relatively conservative. They tend to have strong family values which help preserve the old money they come from. They also have a strong sense of community, which is why they belong to country clubs and project loyalty to their schools. They are seen as "corporate slaves" because most of them end up in a high-income corporate career. They are not narrow-minded, but are in fact open to a multitude of ideas, which aids their financial and entrepreneural sucess. Although they do spend a lot of their time in business, they tend to live by the motto "work hard and play hard". They use the money they make to indulge in travel and social athletics such as golf, which allows them to gain more knowledge on the world and others. It's paradoxical how many non-preps label them as narrow-minded, when in fact they are closed to the ideas of preps.

Some one who goes to a prep school. Seriously people. It's not about your hair or your clothes or your attitude. If you go to private school u are a prep. If you go to public school, you aren't. THAT'S WHAT IT MEANS. Think up a better word for someone who shops in certain stores.

A prep is simply a stereotype in most cases. A prep isn't a slut or a ditz, most preps are just coincidentaly like that. We like bright colors and are always happy. There's nothing wrong with us, we just like living happily and positively. We dont wear grungy clothes because we care about our appearence. It's not like we care what people think about us, its more that we like to present ourselves well. Preps shouldn't be treated differently just because they wear nice clothes and are happy. Being a perep is simply a way you live.Preps also dont say oh My god and like in every sentence. They just say it when they are excited about something and its not like no one else says it.

Okay, sure, there's a true prep and then a "prep lite" I guess (the AE, A&F, Aero, etc.). Anyway, there is NOTHING WRONG with preps, of either kind. Goth freaks and such don't like them just because they have money and can afford cool looking clothes.

Prep is not something you can define by what they wear, it is something that is defined by their overall personality and mentality to life. Yes preps do enjoy looking nice, but it doesn't really matter where they get their nice clothes. They can shop at Noordstroms,Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollister, JCrew, Polo, or they can go to WalMart and find something they like. They like being comfortable and do not care where they buy things to feel that way. They do not have to live/vacation/go to school in new england, they could live in,say, Maryland and still be a prep. They are normally very nice people who have many friends, and because of this they are also hated on. But it is really only because people do not know them.
