These commercials are specifically targeted towards liberal middle-aged women with well paid jobs. They try to appeal to the contempt these women have towards their husbands. The husband is shown to be a loser of sorts, and the product is marketed at the expense of the husband. These commercials sometimes include kids (DINKs are not the norm yet) who have a laugh again at the expense of their father, further justifying the worth of the product.
