"shakalohana" was created by me: samuel juhn, here in venice/santa monica, california; summer of 2006, it was created with the help of quiksilver santa monica employees and venice local surfers. by the hawaiian influenced love of surfing/surfer life style. it was first "shakaloha" but during the summer of 2007 it officially became "shakalohana" and everybody began to use it around quiksilver of santa monica. and surfers around venice and santa monica area began to use. there's also a surf company named after "shakalohana" by samuel juhn and his surfer friends. the official name of the surf company became "venicesurf shakalohana" founded and created by samuel juhn; venicelocal surfer. shakalohana gained more recognition and popularity by the "venicesurf shakalohana" business cards around the local santa monica and venice area. and gained more recognition and popularity by the popular "venicesurf shakaloha" t shirts by the local surf instructors.
