When the temperature in a conference or meeting room is turned way down to ensure that no one will be able to nod off during a meeting.

Man, is the temperature in that room hosed again? My fingers were numb by the end of that staff meeting!

Nah, I saw them jack the temperature down about 20 degrees right before the meeting started. Bob will lull everyone to sleep unless they make it a polarpoint presentation.

Presentaion:/ˌprɛz ənˈteɪ ʃən, ˌpri zɛn-/ Set number of agonizing minutes of exclusive divided attention (divided among you & your lousy slides, facebook, youtube, email, myspace, text messages, chats + other cool websites and iphone apps) intended for explaining to a group of unwilling students what took you 3 weeks to partially understand and one night to put on powerpoint.

The presentation was great, I watched annoying orange on youtube instead.

net present value

Money has a time value, net present value is future cashflows brought back to today's value against a discount factor (11% is standard), minus the initial investment. If the net present value of cumulative cashflows is positive, then the project should be accepted, unless a more profitable investment is also availiable.

To calculate the NPV of an investment, one must know the discount factor, cost of investment and expected incomes (based off accurate data)
