When an a movie/game franchise attempts to appeal to an angsty teen audience by making their newest title as gritty and edgy as possible, even if it contrasts with the tone of the rest of the franchise. Generally, this poor attempt at being relevent rarely is successful.

The Sonic The Hedgehog Movie

I know this already exists, but those were from 2019. They ended up fixing Sonic and the movie actually turned out to be pretty good, if a bit by the numbers, and it also made enough moolah to get a sick looking sequel. Sega, take notes from Paramount on this one, and actually make a good Sonic Game (Mania doesn't count, that was mostly outsourced)

Hedgedorks are typically girls who are small, cute, and very cuddly. They are guarded on the outside but once you get close, they are very very sweet.
