A girl or a guy that you don't really know but take to a party to get them drunk in hopes to be able to hook up with them sexually or emotionally.

Jim- Who are you going to the party with tonight?
Bill- Well I plan on taking Jenn as my party date, but I don't know if she will be up for it or not. Sarah is my back-up party date if all else fails.

a person, may be a girl or a guy, who has the sole purpose and function of accompanying the invitee to an event.

I don't want to drive: at night/on the freeway/over the bridge, etc., alone, so I will ask him/her to be my rescue date, so that I am able to attend this party, concert, reunion, etc.

A variation of prostitution whereby the provider provides no sexual services, but instead provides companionship services, the nature of which mimic a conventional, non-sexual date.
