A Terse exclamation of approval. Shortened from Smiffy which is a bastardization of Spiffy.

One of those words that comes out when you're trying to say another and is a mixture of the two.
It's a mixture of smothered, muffled, and stifled. (there are probably other combo's too)

I felt so smuffled when my parents wouldn't allow me to IM for a week and I didn't know the latest gossip.

smiffenpoofs

The Smith College Smiffenpoofs are the oldest female collegiate a cappella group in the nation, founded in 1936 after a group of Smith girls heard the Yale University men's a cappella group the Whiffenpoofs and decided to start their own at Smith. Today the Smiffenpoofs (not SMITHenpoofs) are affectionately called the "Poofs," and perform at Smith events, at other colleges, at weddings and charity events, and elsewhere. Their repertoire has expanded to include both classics (Softly, Manhattan, etc.) and contemporary hits (Hide and Seek, Californication, The Chain, Lady Marmalade, etc.). They are particular fans of the Brown University men's group, the Brown Derbies.

Smiff

A derogatory term given to a friend who fails to show up at a meeting, embark on a drinking night out or generally makes a mockery of himself within earshot. Coming from the line in the "Wedding Crashes";

"Hes a cock-smith" and alternating the ending to avoid clashes with the popular name "Smith".

Can also be lengthend to "Smiffington" which in esence, is a less harsh version of the word. Also better around OAP's or vulnerable people.

"<friend> is such a Smiff".

Friend 1: "Wheres <friend>?
Friend 2: "I dunno, think he is sitting in tonight.."
Friend 1: "God, he is such a Smiff!"
