scallywag/carpet-bagger

During reconstruction after the civil war in the southern U.S. there were notherners who came down who were called scallywags and carpet baggers. The word scallywag meant troublemaker and carpet-bagger was an allusion to the bags carried by the norther buisness men who came just to profit. The use of both of these terms was in effect of any person seen as one of these type of people, regardless of race.

I learned about people who former confederate supporters reffered to as scallywags and carpet-baggers in My U.S. history class in 11th grade when the unit vocabulary was being discussed.

carpet toad

A highly illusive yet abundant species of toad. Greasy foods and beer seem to attract the carpet toad. Although many people have claimed to have been close enough to even feel the carpet toad run right next to them, experts have yet to capture one for scientific study or photography. There have been numerous reports that when startled, they will emit an unpleasant odor and rippling sound very similar to the barking spider. Some experts have theorized that due to the different odors and sound variations that there may be different breeds of carpet toads. Most experts agree that it is closely related to the Brown Spitting Toad.

Bill: Dude, did you fart?
Bob: No, must have been those carpet toads again.
