Art scaffolding

A pencil sketch that one draws over in pen, paints over in paint, or sprays over with airbrush. It is used as a "support" when making the final product, much like scaffolding in construction.

I didn't wait for the ink to dry before I erased the art scaffolding in my drawing, and now there are streaks everywhere. Damn it.
