Glo Up

A term coined by the members of Glo Gang/Glory Boys Entertainment (GBE). The act of bettering yourself as a person, whether it may be by getting your money up or changing your ways. It was high jacked by wypepo (as most things of black culture are) and twisted to mean when someone goes from ugly to pretty over a period of time.

niggered up (adjective); nigger it up (verb) ; a condition in which something that would normally look just fine now looks not so nice usually because of unnecessary additions or messiness

Mom: Our house looked beautiful until Anthony got it all niggered up with all of his cords and shit.

Me: Yeah I know, he always has to nigger it up with all kinds of stuff.

gussied up

Something gussied up has been made more attractive, but in a showy or gimmicky way, so it’s often not intended to be a compliment. It can also refer to dressing in one’s finery for some special occasion, when it is intended to be taken more straightforwardly. It is usually considered to be an American expression, dating from the late 1930s or thereabouts.
