In ancient Turkic stories, a man called Bakırkaya was terribly unlucky. every flower he smelled withered, every person he loved died suddenly. According to some stories, one of the famous khans of Turkic tribes had killed himself with his own arrow just after Bakırkaya called him as the greatest soldier and general.

Because of the myths above, bakırkaya laneti is an idiom between Turks, and it used for wishing for the opposite of what you want to happen.
