Here, JDM is a backronym where "J" stands for a city starting from "J" located in right-hand drive countries, i.e. Jakarta and Johor. Meanwhile, "DM" remains standing for "Domestic Market". Henceforth, JDM stands for "Jakarta Domestic Market" or "Johor Domestic Market".

Despite being an Italian car, Alfa Romeo 164 has a right-hand drive version known as "JDM version" where "JDM" stands for "Johor Domestic Market".
