Guiltbait

A two-part term describing manipulative tactics centered on guilt. First: baiting designed to make someone feel guilty—for their opinions, their actions, their existence—often by framing them as morally deficient, harmful, or complicit in injustice. Second (and more insidious): the practice of approaching someone for an interview or conversation with the predetermined goal of exposing them, getting them banned, or publicly shaming them. The interviewer already considers them guilty; the "conversation" is just evidence collection. The target is baited into speaking, then destroyed with their own words, taken out of context, amplified, weaponized. It's not dialogue—it's a trap with ethical pretensions.

"A stranger messaged me asking 'genuinely curious, can you explain your views?' I explained. Next day, screenshots everywhere with 'Look at this horrible person.' Guiltbait: they never wanted to understand—they wanted to collect. The curiosity was a trap, the conversation was evidence, and I walked right in."

Guiltpost

A specific instance of Guiltbait—a post designed to make someone feel guilty, or a post that reports on or amplifies a Guiltbait interaction. The first type directly targets an individual or group: "You should be ashamed," "How dare you," "Think of the harm you're causing." The second type shares the fruits of a Guiltbait operation: screenshots of a "gotcha" conversation, call-outs, exposés. Guiltposts are performative morality, public shaming dressed as accountability. They feel righteous but function as weapons, using guilt to control, silence, or destroy.

"They posted a Guiltpost with screenshots of our DMs, captioned 'Person explains why they're problematic.' I thought I was having a conversation; I was actually generating content for their moral performance. The Guiltpost wasn't about accountability—it was about showing their audience how good they are at catching bad people."

Making someone for felling guilty for not doing something

Guy 1: "Guys I miss Izzie"
Guy 2: "What happened to Izzie?"
Guy 1: "Nothing i just miss her because she always has plans with her boyfriend"

carbon guilt

resulting buyers remorse that ensues from purchasing a carbon fiber body part for an automobile that is expensive to the buyer, with the buyer soon realizing that said part has no effect on increasing performance /speed /power of said automobile.

guy1: I spent all my paycheck to install a carbon fiber hood, but i ain't seeing any difference.
guy1: Man ... i got serious carbon guilt.
guy2: Didn't I tell you to buy the Turbo Kit instead??? Dumb ass!!!

The Guilt is in the Closet Syndrome

When you buy an article of clothing that, at the time, you "must have" and then end up hanging it up in your closet with the tags still on it and never wearing it. This then results in whenever you look in your closet you feel guilty when you spot that piece of clothing, but yet you still don't want to wear it. One may feel guilt for a number of reasons anything from feeling as if you wasted your money on something you never wear to feeling like you have so much clothes and yet still feel like there is nothing to wear!

Mom-Honey, get dressed it is almost time for school.
Daughter-Mom I can't...
Mom-Look, it isn't that hard all you gotta do is open up you closet door and-
Daughter-No I really CAN'T!
Mom-Why not!?
Daughter-Because...I have the guilt is in the closet syndrome.
Mom-Ooh...I knew you'd never wear that shirt!

AGU-guilt

Young celebrity hottie. You're doing things to him/her inside your head that you wouldn't do to a farm animal. Then you remember that they achieved celebrity status when they were just kids. Now, even though they're All Grown Up, you feel like a retroactive pedophile. That guilt you're feeling? AGU-guilt.

You: Gods, Emma Watson...I would love to bend that over and cast Penis Insertium on her!

Friend: Really? Did you feel that way when you saw her in the first Harry Potter movie? Y'know, when she was nine? When did this surge of deviance fall upon you?

You: (silently awash in a wave of AGU-guilt)
