getting the guitar 

Refers to making out or going into a makeout session
This saying originates from the many couples that go into a private room or a private area during a party or social gathering, have their makeout session, and when asked where they were, say they were busy "getting the guitar" So the 2 have been linked together into one phrase

James: Hey man, totally got the guitar with Jessica yesterday!
Friend: sweet!

Tyrel: I hooked up with this new girl, am totally getting the guitar with her on the first date!
Friend: damn you move fast !

Billy: I really like this girl I think she's the one
Friend: Don't act too thirsty, or she won't give you the guitar!
