3. A way for lonely people to feel a part of something larger than themselves.

4. A collective of creepy obsessive type people that only serves to feed and encourages each other in unhealthy obsessions and exaggerated exultation of non-existent people, creatures, places and objects.

"Oh my god, I wanted to search for pictures of that actor from that movie we saw last night but I was inundated with terrible text posts and reaction gifs from a fandom I didn't even know existed! Ugh!"

fandom_wank

An elitist, in-fighting online community that mocks other online communities for elitism and in-fighting. Often bemoans being chased off of other journaling services and having to restart repeatedly, before going on to laugh at other communities being removed from journaling services and having to restart. Displays shock and disgust at people leaping on someone for daring to speak against the status quo, just before leaping on any member of the community that questions their own status quo. Jeers over heads of other communities getting in a huff and deleting entries or even the community, while conducting secret plots to delete their own community to, depending on whom you ask, "stir things up", "teach them a lesson", or "as a joke".

fandom slut

Someone who immerses themselves in other people's fandoms to gain recognition, respect, or favours from them.
Being a fandom slut is a sorry state of affairs, it means you have no mind of your own. It also serves to really, really piss people off, because they think they've met someone who likes what they like, whereas as a matter of fact, they're just having their fandoms screwed over.

Person A: "I love Dynasty Warriors! The fighting is so cool!"
Person B: "Really? *spends three hours looking up disturbed Dynasty Warriors fanart just to impress Person A*"
Person A: *some time later* "Hey, watcha lookin' at?"
Person B: "This!" *waves some mentally-scarring Cao Pi X Sima Yi drawings in Person A's face*
Person A: *feels dead inside"

Person B is a fandom slut.
