a generation of humans raised to communicate with social media and generaly has a more important life on social media than in real life and typically lacks in real world knowledge and interactive communication and very poor social skills. and since theyve never known any other way of meeting new people they will snapchat afriend to find out the persons snapchat name of who they want to meet. and they find this way of breaking the ice to be much easier but they typically build up a snapchat relationship with that person and never end up making friends with the individual or ever talking to the person at all in real life
hey ive been wheeling that new girl at school pretty hard on snapchat but i walk by her in the hall way she doesnt even look at me but she still snaps me everyday after school why is this? well my friend she is part of the snapchat generation.

We all felt true generator euphoria after the power went out and our generator automatically started while our holiday dinner was cooking.

Generation Katniss or "Gen K" refers to people born between the millennial and zoomer generations in the late 90s and early 2000s.
The name Katniss refers to the protagonist of the YA book the "Hunger Games" and how the YA genre was very influential in the pop culture Gen K was raised in.
Occasionally this micro-generation is also called "zillennials."
Similar to the term Generation Oregon Trail before it which refers to people born between the Gen X and millennial generations.

Guy#1: I was born in 1998. I can't relate to tiktok zoomers or millennial 90s kids!
Guy#2: It's because you're both and neither. You are part of Generation Katniss.

As introduced during BTS' 2021 United Nations Speech, COVID-19 has made the young generation feel like they're the 'lost generation,' a term originally coined by Gertrude Stein. From BTS' speech, "It was a time for us to mourn, for the things that COVID-19 took away from us, a time to discover how precious each and every moment we had taken for granted was."
BTS then propose the term 'welcome generation' to be more fitting to describe today's youth, a generation that embraces change and a generation that's characterized by extreme perseverance. "We thought the world stopped but it continues to move forward, I believe that every choice that we make is the beginning of change, not the end. I hope that in this new world we can say to each other: 'Welcome'."
The idea can also be connected to the South Korean N-po generation neologism. It describes the generations who gave up on n number of things, including relationships, marriage and children due to socioeconomic pressures. More modern n-po generations are said to be giving up even more things like hope, dreams and life. BTS has referenced it in songs like Dope and Baepsae/Silver Spoon.

"Instead of COVID's 'lost generation', a more appropriate name would be the 'welcome generation' because instead of fearing change, this generation says "welcome" and keeps forging ahead" - BTS at the United Nations
