Dindish

Dindish is actually the term used by linguists, mainly based in India, to describe incorrect German as spoken by Indians whose sole contact with Germans is at work. It results in something that might in some case sound German but in fact is not or is used in a different sense than in normal German usage. Modern Indian features an over-use of loan words e.g. "I'm like dude" from English or "sowie" from German. Indians mistakenly think the expressions/words are correct as they use them.

1. Noun. Portuguese and English pronunciation (jin-jee) - a nickname given to a special girl who makes one smile and feel warm. "Dindi" should be used only for a girl that is taken seriously by the person who bestows it. The girl is cute, adorable, considerate, loyal, trustworthy, and gives her admirer a unique feeling every time she is around.

2. "Dindi" is given to a kind of girl that one believes they could never forget.

3. A song composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim, with lyrics by Aloysio de Oliveira. It is a world-famous Bossa Nova song. Jobim wrote this piece especially for the Brazilian singer Sylvia Telles. "Dindi" is a reference to a farm named "Dirindi", in Brazil, a place that Jobim and his friend/collaborator Vinicius de Moraes used to visit (according to Helena Jobim, his sister, in her book "Antonio Carlos Jobim - Um Homem Iluminado"). In December 1966, just a short while after Telles had recorded this piece with the guitarist Rosinha de Valença, she was killed in a road accident in Rio de Janeiro.

George Thorogood ( the drink order )

A George Thorogood is a name of a drink order which consists of One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer, (of course referring to the artist and his song of the same name) . This tripple drink in usually ordered in a bar by someone who, for whatever personal reason, has the specific intent to get plastered as quickly as possible. The three drinks are fully consumed in this specific order, usually just before belching and ordering another round.

John ( to Bartender ) : ...yeah, gimme a George Thorogood...

Steve (to Rick) : Shit ! John just ordered a George Thorogood ( the drink order ) !

Rick (to Steve) : Let him be, man, he just broke up with Sally...

Steve (to Rick) : Oh, I see. I didn't know... I'll get his car keys off of him...
