wonk

The Anglo descendent of Wonka, whose origin is in Perugia, Italy. Although the evolution of the name as it travelled north through Europe dropped the "a," The origin family left the romantic spelling of its name intact over the centuries.

Ironically, one of the Wonkas, a dreamer by the name of William, actaully dropped the "A" and had a crazy trip. He subsequently went on to start Wonka, Inc., a psychedelic chocolate factory where 'you can even eat the dishes' , managed entirely by Oompa Loompas. The factory is now owned and operated by Charlie Bucket.
Eastern European variations of the name include Wünch Norwegian, Wönchen German and Whcnzh Czech.
"Mr. Wonk, do you ever get jealous about all the money your cousin Willy Wonka is making from his choclate factory?"
